1) What should I wear to my first lesson?
For your first lesson, you should wear comfortable clothing in which you can move freely.
On your feet, you need to bring clean shoes with a leather sole for men and women.
The shoes cannot be backless (they�ll slip off your feet); sneakers are not good for dancing either. Or you can order shoes especially made for dancing (see below - #8).

2) Do I need a partner?
You do not need a partner!
At group classes, men and women learn together in differing line ups and arrangements.
For private lessons, you will dance with your instructor.

3) Do I have to buy a set of lessons?
Our group classes and private lessons are all pay as you go, single lesson pricing.
You are not required to sign any contracts.

4) What dances will I learn?
The American smooth dances are waltz, tango, foxtrot and Viennese waltz;
the American rhythm dances are cha-cha, rumba, east coast swing, bolero and mambo. Salsa, hustle, samba and west coast swing are taught. You can also learn the International standard and Latin dances.

5) What if I have 2 left feet and no rhythm?
If you can walk, you can learn to dance!
Dancing is fun, great exercise and a real confidence builder.
Anyone between the ages of 3-103 can learn to dance.

6) How quickly can you prepare me for my wedding dance?
We have prepared couples in as little as a weekend for their big dance, but 4 weeks is a much better time frame for preparing for your big day. We'll know more on your first lesson to assess how long it will take to meet your goals.

7) Does the CBC offer lessons for youths and teens?
We offer private lessons to youths (ages 7-11) and teens (12-16).
We also have experience with teaching large groups of students on-site
in grade schools, high schools and universities.

8) Where can I find dancing shoes? Online?
Shoes especially made for dancing may be ordered from www.showtimedanceshoes.com
or call (800) 888-5429. Dance shoes are sized using the English system, so call if this is your first time ordering dance shoes.
(For example, if you wear a size 8 shoe normally, you would order a size 5.5 dance shoe). Ladies should also purchase heel covers
which are quite inexpensive, but greatly extend the lifetime of their shoes.

9) What are the benefits of dancing?
There is a vast array of benefits from learning to dance - physical, mental and emotional.
Dancing is aerobic and it�s also excellent interval training (brief bursts which increase the heart rate quickly).
You work your core and lose weight. From the first lesson, you learn about posture, proper frame and carriage.
You walk taller and appearance is improved.
Your muscle tone increases and improves without building muscle mass.
Almost everyone who participates in dancing reports increased confidence and self-esteem.
There are a host of other benefits as well. Your mind is exercised by learning a new skill.
For the duration of your dance lesson, you are focused on acquiring this new skill, putting you in the perfect place of �beginner�s mind�.
